About Me
Hi, I’m Alan Blair. I built BRX Prod because I was tired of doing the same fiddly things in Bricks Builder, over and over, on every project.
What is BRX Prod, in one paragraph
BRX Prod is a productivity toolkit for Bricks Builder. It speeds up the parts of building a site that are repetitive — class naming, CSS authoring, structure-panel navigation, AI-assisted content and image generation — without changing how Bricks itself works. It runs entirely inside the editor; deactivating it never breaks your live site. That last bit is non-negotiable.
Why I built it
I’ve been building WordPress sites for around 5 years, and I moved to Bricks because it gave me the closest thing to writing real CSS while still being a visual builder. But Bricks is opinionated about what goes inside the editor — and there was a long list of small workflow improvements that I kept wishing existed: shortcuts that actually fit my hand, a CSS panel that didn’t fight me, a sane way to generate BEM class names, AI tools that lived in the right place at the right time.
So I started building those tools for myself. They worked well enough that other people on Facebook and Youtube asked if they could use them. BRX Prod is what came out of saying yes.
The principles I built it on
Every decision I make about BRX Prod is filtered through these:
- Zero frontend impact. The plugin runs only inside the editor. It never injects styles, scripts, or markup into your live site. If you deactivate BRX Prod tomorrow, your sites keep working exactly as they were.
- Productivity, not framework. I’m not building another CSS framework or another way to structure your stylesheets. I’m building tools that make Bricks faster to use. You bring your own conventions.
- Framework agnostic. BRX Prod doesn’t care whether you use BEM, utility classes, your own naming scheme, or no scheme at all. It works with whatever you already do.
- Opt in, not opt out. Most features are off by default. You enable the ones that fit your workflow. The plugin doesn’t presume to know what you want.
- Visually distinct. BRX Prod UI uses its own colour palette so you always know what’s Bricks and what’s mine.
If a feature would compromise any of these, it doesn’t ship.
About me
I run WP Easy Pty Ltd, a Brisbane/Australia-based agency that builds WordPress sites for small to medium businesses and related agencies, e.g. Branding Agents. BRX Prod started as our internal tooling and is now a separate product.
I’ve been part of the WordPress community for a while — Contributing to the FaceBook communities, especially for Bricks Builder, and a Youtube Channel. If you’ve been around the Bricks community for any length of time, there’s a decent chance you’ve already seen me ask or answer something somewhere.
Who else is involved
BRX Prod is mine. I make the product decisions, write most of the code, and answer the support email myself. I also involve my team at WP Easy as needed.
The reason I want to be clear about this: when you email support, you’re emailing me. When you report a bug, it goes straight to the person who can fix it. That’s a benefit of staying small.
Why a paid product (and not just open source)
BRX Prod is GPL-licensed, like WordPress and Bricks itself. The free tier covers a meaningful chunk of the productivity tools, and the source for the whole plugin is shipped with every download — nothing is obfuscated.
The paid tier funds the work. Building and maintaining a serious plugin takes real time, and the paid tier is what lets me put that time in instead of squeezing development around client work. If you find BRX Prod genuinely useful, buying the premium tier is what keeps it being maintained.
See the License page for more on how the GPL and the paid tier fit together.
